“Jazz has a diplomatic role of uniting people over the globe, developing an intercultural dialogue, cooperation, friendship, diversity. More than this, jazz can build bridges between countries to promote peace.”

Tell us a little about your organization’s mission
The International Session is a musical project which reunites musicians around the world to record remotely. Basically what we do is: regardless of the country, nationality or culture, we collaborate and interpret music videos that are enriched by the diversity of the participants in the world.

Why does your organization celebrate International Jazz Day?
We play from jazz to fusion, from the West to the East, from Asia to America. Our focus is on jazz and fusion bringing influence from our musicians’ cultures and musical insights.

Tell us about a favorite memory from International Jazz Day
It was wonderful to receive a signed letter from UNESCO Ambassador Mr. Herbie Hancock on the occasion of Jazz Day. Herbie is a big influence on our music. The moment I sent the letter to our teams in Japan, Finland and Korea, who participated with us last year, we were so thankful for our hard work and achievement playing jazz and fusion.

How do you think jazz can improve people’s lives?
Jazz is not only a music we listen to in our daily life. Jazz has a diplomatic role of uniting people over the globe, developing an intercultural dialogue, cooperation, friendship, diversity. More than this, jazz can build bridges between countries to promote peace.
