This group of Middle School and High School jazz musicians explores the music of legendary jazz musicians through the decades before, during, and after the Civil Rights Era. As well as performing the music, we discuss the challenges African American artists faced from racial discrimination, and how these challenges were overcome - and these powerful musical voices continued to spread a message of peace, love, harmony and joy through their jazz performances and musical compositions.
