Boston-based public broadcaster GBH and JazzBoston pay tribute to International Jazz Day with JazzNOW: Emerald Jazz. This intriguing musical event merges improvisational jazz with traditional Irish music. The free virtual concert takes place in the accoustically acclaimed GBH Fraser Performance Studio. The ensemble includes Cillian Vallely on the uilleann pipes and low whistle, Stan Strickland on saxophone, Witness Matlou on piano, Ron Mahdi on bass, Ron Savage on drums, and Oisin McAuley on fiddle. The program is co-hosted by Eric Jackson, host of GBH’s Eric in the Evening, Brian O’Donovan, host of A Celtic Sojourn. Eric and Brian will co-moderate a conversation with the musicians following the 8pm performance.
