The University School (Hunting Valley, OH) Jazz Ensemble, a sextet, under the direction of David Kay, plays their 2023-24 spring concert 7 PM Saturday, May 11 at Cleveland’s premier jazz club, the Bop Stop.
This year’s concert will highlight original compositions by three of the members, including four by senior Anand Stephens, as part of his year-long jazz composition project. Senior guitarist Julian Berger, entering the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University this fall, was also selected as THE guitarist in the Ohio Music Education Association 2024 All-State jazz ensemble. Director Kay is a Masters’ graduate of the Jazz Studies program at Indiana University and was a long-time faculty member at the Interlochen Arts Camp.
