Lee Morgan’s Pennsylvania historical marker will be unveiled on International Jazz Day. Considered one of the top ten trumpet players in the world, Lee Morgan is best known for his crossover hit, “The Sidewinder.” The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000.

The dedication ceremony will feature remarks by Lee Morgan family members, local officials, and musicians who performed with the jazz innovator. Lee’s trumpet and flugelhorn will be on display.

The historical marker will be installed on West Philadelphia’s famed 52nd Street in front of the former location of the Aqua Lounge whose stage was graced by music legends including International Jazz Day Chair Herbie Hancock.
