Northern Virginia Community College will host eight bands in a celebration of Charles Mingus for International Jazz Day on Tuesday, April 30th at 6 - 9:30 pm located at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center located at 4915 E Campus Dr, Alexandria, VA 22311. The event is free and open to the public with ample free parking in the Beauregard Garage. The event will start out with the NOVA Jazz Combos, followed by Wakefield High School Jazz Ensemble, NOVA Nighthawks Jazz Ensemble, Alexandria City High School Jazz Ensemble, the Capitol Lab Big Band, and a surprise special guest all culminating in a massive Mingus jam at the end.
