In honor of International Jazz Day, join us at the Door County Library, Sturgeon Bay for an early jazz & blues records listening party on 78rpm records. Vintage-music DJ David Watkins will be spinning rare records and sharing the history of some of the originators of jazz and blues music including Ma Rainey, Blind Lemon Jefferson, W.C. Handy, Papa Charlie Jackson, Blind Willie Johnson, Bukka White, and more.
Specializing in 20th century music of many genres, Door County-based DJ David Watkins spins curated sets from real records (78s, 45s, and LPs) on modern equipment at local events and venues such as Door County Christkindlmarkt, Donny’s Glidden Lodge, Stabbur, and more. He loves sharing music history at Door County libraries through history talks and listening parties that tell the story of great American music from the early days of recorded music.
