Atlas Maior returns to Long Play Lounge East presenting music from their new album "Hadal"
Atlas Maior, co-led by Joshua Thomson (alto saxophone) and Joshua Peters (Middle Eastern fretless lute; oud), have constructed an artistic throng of projects within the group from their full quintet to Tabla Trio, to the full improvised Atlas Maior: Palindrome project (inspired by Atlas Maior's double LP Palindrome), in addition to collaborations with guest vocalists (“Nazuk,” “Ya Ali” with Ali Pervez Mehdi).
Atlas Maior's International Jazz Day 2023 performance promises to delve deep into the modal worlds of maqamat, the outer limits of free jazz expression, and the electric on-stage interaction between the members of their stellar quartet.
