High Priestess of Soul – Dedicated to Nina Simone

Music tale by Emiliano Pintori, piano
Special guest Silvia Donati, vocals

The enormous piano talent of the young Eunice K. Waymon soon clashed with the impossibility of becoming a classical concert pianist in the segregationist America of the 1950s.

Forced to reinvent herself as Nina Simone, she achieved worldwide success thanks to her personal fusion of blues, folk, Great American Songbook and Bachian deviations.

Charismatic and tormented, with her powerful and sincere voice she became an emblem of the fight for the civil rights of African Americans and the condition of women.
