University School Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert, celebration the retirement of David Kay, Jazz Ensemble director

The University School Jazz Ensemble, in Hunting Valley, Ohio (suburban Cleveland) give their Spring concert at Cleveland’s top jazz venue, The Bop Stop, Sunday, May 25th at 7 PM (EST). Their director, David Kay, is retiring after teaching at the school for 37 years. Kay has a Masters in Jazz Studies from Indiana University, studying with legendary IU Jazz Studies chair, David Baker. Music comes from Miles’ Nefertiti album, more Wayne tunes including ‘Aung San Suu Kyi’, ‘Music of My People’ (Peter Erskine), an originals by junior keyboardist Ian Broihier, and by Sam Morrison, a member of Miles’ group in the mid-70s, written expressly for the group. Admission is free, and it can be livestreamed on the Bop Stop Facebook page.
