Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley welcomes 2x Grammy-winning NEA Jazz Master saxophonist Gary Bartz, for two nights and two shows (4/29-30), on tour in support of his forthcoming 2025 release. Band members are: Gary Bartz (sax), Paul Bollenback (guitar), Marc Cary (piano), James King (bass) and Kassa Overall (drums). Show times Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm each night.
Born and raised in Baltimore, NEA Jazz Master Gary Bartz stands as a titan of modern jazz, dedicated to honoring and advancing Black American musical heritage. With a career spanning over six decades, Bartz’s masterful approach to the alto saxophone and his concept of “informal composition” have redefined the boundaries of jazz improvisation.
