You’ve seen Endea Owens as the bassist on the Late Show’s house band, or heard her on Jon Batiste’s Grammy-winning album They Are.“The Cookout” is Owens’ acoustic bass-led sextet of rhythmically charged music. As a Detroit-raised Recording Artist, bassist and composer, this rising star has been mentored by jazz icons the likes of Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, and Ron Carter and toured/performed with Wynton Marsalis, Diana Ross, Solange, Jon Batiste, Jazzmeia Horn, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Steve Turre to name a few. Owens plays bass on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show in the house band with Louis Cato. She is the winner of Emmy, Grammy, and George Foster Peabody Awards.
