The TIMBRE Jazz Series is a community-rooted live music experience hosted at principle barbers, a barbershop and cultural hub in North Lawndale on Chicago’s West Side. Founded by Bobby Price—a lifelong resident, barber, and cultural organizer—TIMBRE was created to reclaim neighborhood space through music, storytelling, and shared experience, offering a consistent platform for jazz and creative expression in a setting that feels both familiar and transformative.
Barbershops have long served as trusted gathering places in Black communities—spaces for conversation, reflection, and connection. TIMBRE builds on that legacy by transforming the shop into a live performance venue where artists and neighbors meet on equal ground. Each event is free
