Paula Oliveira, unavoidable Portuguese jazz singer, with an enviable career that outboards Portugal. She studied with a long list of mentors like Phil Woods, Norma Winston, Reggie Workman, to name a few, in Barcelona or NY where she lived. From Jazz, to Portuguese Music, she has several works edited. This Jazz Day she joins our Orchestra to celebrate! After You've Gone, it is the theme that gives the conductive line of this energetic swing concert and contrasts: were it not for Sarah Vaughan's "Up Swing" orchestration. Highlight for some orchestrations by Claus Nymark, a Danish musician who much contributes much to Portuguese Jazz. It is for us a pleasure to play his Music, along with Paula Oliveira, in such a varied repertoire!
