Umtiza Arts Festival takes place in East London South Africa's coastal city in the Eastern Cape province. Known as a boxing Mecca, this year the East London community will get to celebrate International Jazz Day with the Wild Coast Trio led by renowned South African Jazz drummer Clement Cyril Benny who leads a younger generation of artists with Zuko Yigi on bass who studies jazz at the historic Fort Hare University. The trio is completed by Vuyo Mjindi on piano who combines the KZN and Eastern Cape sounds making for an intergenerational dialogue. Umtiza arts festival takes place in May and as a lead up this year...teams up with the popular Blue Lagoon Hotel and Conference Highlander.
