The six-piece Coltrane Legacy was founded in 2017, on the 50th anniversary of Coltrane’s death, by one of the most sought-after musicians on the Hungarian jazz scene, bassist György Orbán. He created a legacy of music that has influenced generations of musicians ever since, reaching ever more spiritual dimensions. The compositions, of course, take Coltrane’s tradition as their starting point and continue to reflect the abstract spirit and tools of our time, thus continuing the spiritual jazz tradition. The members of the orchestra are outstanding personalities of the Hungarian jazz scene, their progressive way of thinking and their unique musicality allow them to work together as a team with unbroken creative enthusiasm.
