Allure of the Archipelago was initiated to highlight Indonesian musicians and original composers for the International Jazz Day 2022. The name of the event in English was loosely interpreted from a famous Indonesian national song ‘Rayuan Pulau Kelapa’ composed by a legendary Indonesian musician, Ismail Marzuki. It talks of the beauty of Indonesia and the natural tropical appeal of the archipelago. The event will spotlight the younger generation of Indonesian Jazz musicians led by Nial Djuliarso, an award-winning jazz pianist who has created a contemporary interpretation of Ismail Marzuki’s song. Then, an original song, ‘Strollin’ Down the Avenue,’ will be performed by an 18 year-old talented Jazz vocalist Alonzo Brata.
