Charlie Parker is often described as the J.S. Bach of jazz when he and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie wowed the world when they introduced the new virtuoso style of playing, be-bop. Parker was honored the nickname «Bird» by Jay McShann as his ferocious and dazzling solos could be associated with that of a chirping bird.

This celebration will feature Felix Peikli, the Norwegian Jazz Orchestra and special guest Baptiste Herbin (FR), who champions the title as one of the worlds foremost experts on the tradition of alto-saxophone and be-bop.
