“Transforming society through Music” is the mission of Orquestra Lyra, created in 1985 in the city of Mogi Mirim, in the interior of Brazil. Lyra is a non-governmental, non-commercial institution and all the work is aimed at developing musical training programs offered free of charge to around 1,000 students, including children, youth and adults. These students make up the different groups: orchestra, concert band, string camerata, guitar orchestra, choir, trios and quartets. Opportunities with music make students develop discipline and collective spirit. Since 2012 Lyra has also held the Mogi Mirim Winter Festival (FESTIMM), considered the most important cultural event in the city. From 2013 onwards Lyra joined the Umbrellas for Peace (USA
