UNESCO established April 30 as International Jazz Day in 2011 to celebrate jazz as a tool for peace, dialogue, inclusion, and international cooperation. Led by UNESCO and Herbie Hancock, the Day brings together communities, artists, educators, and scholars worldwide and is officially recognized by the United Nations. Chicago will host International Jazz Day 2026 on April 30, highlighting its historic role in jazz and global music culture. Supported by local institutions, the celebration will include a week of concerts and educational activities, culminating in an All-Star Global Concert broadcast to 190 countries. Radiotopclass and Radiostudio 104 will join with a 24-hour musical marathon featuring DJs and artists from the new jazz scene
