Participating since 2017 on the annual IJD-event, we highlight 2025 Jazz from Finland.
Tuija’s song “Land Of The Midnight Sun” has become part of the program as “Music From The Land Of The Midnight Sun – The Finest Finnish in Jazz”. The hymn to her homeland Finland illustrates the singer’s exceptional position. Like no other, Komi enriches classic jazz singing with themes, lyrics and sounds from her Nordic origins. She takes her audience on a musical journey to the far north with her confident presentation, which is full of stories. As a perfect jazz singer, she has soul, can scat like the devil, loves to improvise and uses the entire spectrum of her voice, right up to “joiking”, a special singin-technique of the Sami people from Lapland.
