Jazz at the Museum: George Kontrafouris Quartet – “International Jazz Day”

On the occasion of International Jazz Day, pianist George Kontrafouris and drummer Jason Wastor give voice to the next generations of Greek jazz and collaborate with students from the jazz direction of the Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University: Eleftheria Papaoikonomou (vocals) & Nikoletta Floumi (bass), for an evening of original compositions and renditions of beloved pieces.
Kontrafouris has collaborated with many renowned musicians, such as M. Johnson, A. Andersen, M. Stockhausen, A. Sheppard, R. Peterson Jr., L. Donaldson and many others. He has been teaching piano and hammond organ for years at the Athenaeum Conservatory in Greece & at the Sibelius Academy in Finland, and he is teaching at the Ionian University in Corfu
