On the occasion of International Jazz Day 2026, the Barakos Orchestra performs live at the Amphitheatre of the Music School of Ilion. The twelve-piece ensemble, formed in the spring of 2024 by a group of friends and fellow musicians, will present original compositions dedicated to the memory of Giorgos Barakos — the visionary who opened the first jazz club in Greece and left an indelible mark on the country’s contemporary jazz scene. A morning celebration for students and staff, on Tuesday, April 28 at 11:00, in the true spirit of the day: bringing live music to the place where it is taught and loved.
