Founded under the leadership of internationally award-winning saxophonist Batu Şallıel, Istanbul Swing Cats is a unique ensemble that brings together leading soloists of the Turkish jazz scene with rising stars of the future on the same stage.
The group carries the spirit of genres such as Cool Jazz, Hard Bop, and Modal Jazz—born in early 1950s New York—onto the Istanbul stage. The combination of four horn players with a traditional jazz quartet creates a distinctive combo jazz band sound, delivering both rich melodic textures and high energy through original arrangements.
Istanbul Swing Cats takes its audience on a journey through time, transporting them to the New York jazz scene of the 1950s.
