The Ljubljana jazz octet was formed when academic pianist Marko Petrušič began writing compositions and arrangements for a quintet of woodwinds and brass during the Covid-19 pandemic. The compositions address events that unfolded during this challenging period. In their expression, the octet most closely aligns with swing and bebop.The ensemble’s second album maintains the tradition of swing but is enhanced with original arrangements for a 5-member brass section and explores the sound that such a large ensemble can produce.
