JAZZ JAM and A LUNCHTIME DATE WITH JAZZ

(1) A JAZZ JAM (leading up to IJD Day): local & visiting musicians will perform different styles of jazz – swing, jazz rock, soul jazz, Latin jazz, blues and Samoan jazz to demonstrate the all encompassing unity and inclusiveness of Jazz music to raise awareness and to dispel the stereotype on our Islands that jazz is elitist and not about US as Pacific Islanders.
(2) A Lunchtime date with Jazz hosted by the Faculty of Fine Arts: American Samoa Community College presents the story of Why, How and When JAZZ became very much a part of our music history in a visual presentation – “A Tale of 2Samoas – Our Samoan Jazz Story” – followed by a Lunchtime performance by the Samoa Musika Foundation musicians, friends, Fine Arts students.
