Nikki Iles is widely regarded as one of the finest modern jazz pianists in Europe. Her fluent and creative playing has been heard with some of the finest musicians around, including the likes of Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Stan Sulzmann, Rufus Reid, Claire Martin, Dave Holland and Tina May. An established bandleader, she performs in a variety of settings from her trio to the Award winning band “Printmakers” that she co-leads with vocalist Norma Winstone. Heidi Vogel is the voice of the Cinematic Orchestra and is featured on their new album “To Believe”. She has toured with them all over the USA, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Europe and in London had a sold-out concert at The Royal Albert Hall. She has sung with The London Metropolitan Orchestra and The Krakow Symphony Orchestra and on TV she gave a stunning live performance on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
She toured with Cirque du Soleil, performed at the Blue Note Jazz Festival, The Big Chill Festival UK, Gilles Peterson Worldwide and opened for Erykah Badu at Dubai’s Chill Out Festival. Cello recital will take place on Sunday 21st April 2019 at the Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum in London.

Czech Cellist František Brikcius will perform Solo Cello Suite No. 5 by J. S. Bach (1685 – 1750), together with E17 premiere of “Veselka” for Solo Cello (2018) by Czech Composer and Organist Irena Kosíková and London premiere of “The Soldier Puppet”, an anti-Vietnam war solo cello piece by American Jazz Cellist and Composer Fred Katz (1919 – 2013).

30 April is also the day when, in 2014, Jazz.Coop bought The Globe in Newcastle upon Tyne and created the UK’s first community-owned live music venue/bar.
This year we want to celebrate how our local jazz community has encouraged participation and learning, and to thank the many musicians who have supported the unique Jazz.Coop venture by playing gigs and teaching at various workshops and courses.
